Speed Limit
You may think that the speed camera located on top of the traffic lights is just an inanimate thing that can neither see nor tell whether you have driven past the speed limit. Truth is, that camera has already send traffic tickets to a couple of traffic violators in a month. In a study, it has been said that in a year, there are at least three herring drivers who are given notices of a certain traffic violation. Most of those violations are over speeding.
You may feel confident about your flashy sports car and want to show it off by exceeding the state's speed limit until you are being followed by an alarming police patrol car. How did this happen? How did the police know that you have committed a traffic infraction?
Traffic Devices
Without drivers knowing it, there are sophisticated technologies in the road to monitor all driving activities in a day. These devices include cameras, triggers, sensors, computers and the people behind all the programmed commands of the devices. These devices function like a person's sense organs. The cameras act like the eyes of a person. It can tell if the car is past the intersection. The triggers below the road are like the person's skin who can actually feel the vibrations of a car if ever it travels beyond the speed limit. After the cameras and the sensors have recorded their observations, these signals will then be interpreted in the computer, where a database will interpret the given stimuli.
Reckless driving and going beyond the prescribed the speed limit is a serious crime. Every state has its own traffic rules that will sanction these drivers. Some may give tickets to the cars but some directly mailed the tickets to the driver that may lead him or her to loose the driver's license if proven guilty. If you are the convicted driver and you fight for your innocence, you can file a counter affidavit to the assigned traffic enforcer and schedule a court hearing.
Rules are rules
Even with this very clear and scientific process in traffic rules, one cannot surely disregard some news about policemen being tax collectors in the road. There are also reports that some traffic enforcers issue traffic tickets for violations on speed limit to get money from drivers. Some of them are reported to threaten drivers and completely rob them of their licenses if they would not acquiesce to their conditions.
Bottom line, if the policeman reported that you go beyond the speed limit, you have to think twice about his explanations. If possible, you have to bring the issue in court with a knowledgeable traffic attorney.
